Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Below are education qualification that you need for eligible for this Post Office GDS vacancy 2026.

• need to pass 10th ( Metric) with subject (math & english) from certified boards.
• other then that candidates should know regional language,basic computer knowledge,ride bicycle.

Required Application Fee

• ₹100 fee is applicable to candidates applying for posts in their selected Division.
• Female,SC/ST,PwBD,Transgender , candidates are exempted/not requirred to pay application fee.
• Fee can be paid through Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking or UPI.
• Non – refundable :- Once paid, the application fee will not be refunded.
• Candidates should check their eligibility before paying the fee.
• Do not close or refresh the payment window during the payment process.
• Fee payment must be completed within the prescribed deadline.
• If the closing time is 5:00 PM (17:00 hours), payment must be completed by 5:00 PM.
• Pending or incomplete fee payment after the deadline will lead to rejection.
• Candidates who are exempted from the fee can submit the application without making any payment.

• Candidates must enter their Name, Date of Birth, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, etc. exactly as given in the Class 10 (SSC) marksheet.
• Blurred or unclear photos/signatures can lead to rejection.
• The shortlist will be published on the GDS Online Engagement Portal. Shortlisted candidates will be informed about the result and physical verification dates through SMS and Email.
• Candidates should regularly check the official GDS portal for updates.
• Shortlisted candidates must report to the designated authority for document verification within 15 days from the date of shortlisting.
• Candidates must carry original documents and two sets of self-attested photocopies.
• A medical certificate from a Government Hospital/Health Centre is compulsory.
• If the documents are correct, a provisional engagement offer will be issued.
• After receiving the provisional offer, candidates must complete joining formalities within 30 days.
• If a candidate fails to complete the formalities or does not join within the given period, the candidature may be cancelled.
• Document verification may also include checking certificates and antecedent/police verification.
• If any candidate is found to have hidden their identity or used unfair means, their candidature may be cancelled.
• Selected candidates should keep their DigiLocker account and required documents ready, as documents may be verified online.
• Candidates should carefully check that their marksheet/certificate details are correct before applying.

No , the Post Office GDS selection is based on class 10th merit basis .

Step – by Step Selection Process

• After registering and submiting application
• Candidates will be shortlisted through a system-generated merit list.
  • the merit list will be based on Class 10 (10th) marks/percentage.The percentage will be calculated up to 4 decimal places.
  • If a subject has only grades, the grade can be entered as it is.
• Candidates do not need to convert grades/points into marks themselves.
• If only grades are given, the system will convert them using the 9.5 multiplication factor.
• Grade conversion is:
  • A1 = 10 × 9.5 = 95
  • A2 = 9 × 9.5 = 85.5
  • B1 = 8 × 9.5 = 76
  • B2 = 7 × 9.5 = 66.5
  • C1 = 6 × 9.5 = 57
  • C2 = 5 × 9.5 = 47.5
  • D = 4 × 9.5 = 38
• If both CGPA and subject-wise grades are given, the higher calculated marks will be considered.
• If a board provides both percentage and grade points, candidates must enter the percentage.
• Entering grade points instead of the required percentage may lead to disqualification.
• For Tamil Nadu SBSE candidates of 2020–21, the system will consider 66.67% as per the notification.
• In case of a tie in marks, the Department will use the given priority order, including older age and category/gender priority.
• The Department may introduce additional tie-breaking criteria if required.
